Pipe insert sleeve is a pipe fitting specially designed to protect the welded joint area of internally coated piping from corrosive process fluids by forming a continuous internal coating transmission at the joint welding section. The pipe insert sleeve is of easy and quick installation at welding site and cost effective.
The pipe insert sleeve can be used in field joint coating for both onshore and offshore pipeline installation, typically for pipe diameter below 48 inch (1219 mm), where internal field joint coating robot is not applicable and can be manufactured to be a wide range of size, grade, material or configuration of piping system. The sleeve is compatible with both liquid or powder material pipe coatings.
The design purpouse of the pipe insert sleeve is to provide a coherent internal coating for the internally coated pipes, with considering the cleaning & operating work of pipeline after installation, and increase pipeline service life.
With proper coating applied suitable for working under specific transporting medium condition of each project, high temperature isolation treatment for pipe welding, and using high temperature and corrosive resisting sealing rings and mastic epoxy, the pipe insert sleeve provides a satisfying protection for the pipeline internal cutback area.
Benefits of Pipe Insert Sleeve:-
Easy installation
Increasing pipeline service life
Increasing flow efficiency
Recuing internal corrosion
Providing coherent pipeline internal protection
Reducing pipe wall thickness requirements
Diminishing or eliminating pipeline leaks
Recommended Installation Procedures
1. Check pipe ends condition to ensure no damage. Clean dust, water, any contamination that would affect installation. Heat pipe ends to temperature 60-80℃ to remove moisture or water if detected any. Measure pipe inside diameter at least horizontally and vertically and shall be within allowance.
2. Coating on the pipe insert sleeve shall not be damaged, contaminated or having other negative defects. Make sure that the sealing rings, heat-resistance tape and other accessories are in well condition.
3. Mix epoxy mastic according to mixing ratio and strictly comply epoxy pot life after mixing as recommendation from manufacturer.
4. Apply epoxy mastic evenly onto the cleaned pipe internal cutback area with amount as recommended for each pipe size. The applied epoxy mastic shall form a good beam between sleeve end and pipe internal surface after installation of sleeve.
5. Insert the sleeve into one pipe end till the pins reach pipe bevel end. The inserting process shall be horizontally evenly pressing by hand. Insert the next prepared pipe end with epoxy to the porrect sleeve until the pins reach pipe bevel end.
6. After inserting of the sleeve, welding activities may commence.
